"Gurur Brahma, Gurur Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheswaraha
Guru Saakshaat Parabhrahma, Tasmai Shri Gurve Namah."
Guru- 'Gu' stands for darkness and 'Ru' means removing darkness. Guru Purnima is a day dedicated to gurus (religious and secular) and devotees who thank them for enlightening them. Guru Purnima has always been an auspicious occasion for the unique relationship between teachers and their students. On this occasion Grade Prep,1 and 2 students were beautifully dressed up in Indian attire and spoke a few lines about their favourite guru (teacher). Also, they made craft activities and placards representing the characteristics of their teachers. Grade 6 and 7 students expressed reverence to their teachers, learned and recited shlokas, and offered prayers in their honour. They paid gratitude and tribute to their teachers by offering flowers and lighting candles.
