Reading in its fullest sense involves weaving together words and comprehension in a fluent manner!
To spark curiosity about reading in our young Presidians, a Picture Reading Competition was organized wherein students participated with full zeal and zest. The competition not only helped little Presidians in exploring early reading skills but also engaged them in an altogether new learning experience. The competition started with the teacher showing a picture to the kids and they were asked to identify what they see in the picture and to think about the information on the chart and what they want to say about it to generate a sentence. Students simply identified what is going on in each picture and found meaning in text and pictures. Students were assessed on their dynamic vocabulary, comprehension, and expression. The children were very excited and enjoyed the activity thoroughly. It was wonderful to see how our young readers decoded visual images and made meaning from visuals.
