World Heritage Day is observed every year on April 18. The day is about preserving human heritage, diversity, and vulnerability of the world’s built monuments and heritage sites. Also, the efforts required to protect and conserve it and to draw attention towards it. To celebrate this beautiful day, Presidium had organized an activity in the Junior and Senior Wing of the School. The objective was to enrich the students about the beautiful history behind our heritage and monuments and to also save the rich heritage which has been given to us by our ancestors. The students enthusiastically participated by making posters and creating their own poems. They also shared their experience of visiting monuments around the world.

CELEBRATING THE FESTIVAL OF HARVEST, BAISAKHI WITH GAIETY & JOY!

Baisakhi is a spring festival for Sikhs and Hindus. It marks the Sikh new year and commemorates the formation of the Khalsa Panth of warriors. Baisakhi is also an ancient festival of Hindus, marking the Solar New Year and also celebrating the spring harvest. Students of Grade Nur to 3 dressed up in ethnic attire to celebrate this auspicious festival with their teachers and friends. They enjoyed dancing on Bhangra beats and were shown a small animated video related to the festival. The motive behind the celebrations was to apprise children of our rich culture and heritage. These engaging and fun-filled activities were planned in such a manner that they enjoyed themselves a lot.

‘HAPPY HOLI’: PRESIDIANS SPREAD THE COLOURS OF LOVE & HAPPINESS

This auspicious festival is celebrated during the spring season with great joy and fervour. People wear white coloured clothes on the day of Holi. They play with bright organic colours like red, green, yellow, orange, magenta, purple, etc. Various kinds of sweets such as Gujiyas and Malpuas are prepared to mark the occasion of Holi. Children love playing with colours using pichkaris, buckets, and balloons, filled with coloured water. Holi celebrations begin with the Holika Dahan. It is a festival that reminds us of the victory of good over evil. Presidians of Grade Nursery to 1 dressed up in ethnic attire to celebrate this auspicious festival with their teachers and friends. Also, they enjoyed playing Holi with flowers, followed by a dance party.

The festival of Maha Shivratri is celebrated each year in reverence of Lord Shiva. Maha Shivaratri is a great festival in Hinduism, celebrated annually with devotion and religious enthusiasm in honor of Lord Shiva, one of the deities of the Hindu Trinity. The literal meaning of Shivaratri is “The Great Night of Lord Shiva.” The students of Grade Nursery to 2 celebrated Maha Shivratri with full zeal and enthusiasm. The sacred mantra of Shiva, “Om Namah Shivay’ was chanted to begin the celebration. The powers and the role of Lord Shiva in the natural cycle were highlighted during the online class. All the students were beautifully dressed up in traditional attire. On this auspicious occasion, the students enjoyed dancing on “ Shiv Tandava,” involved in a craft activity, and also made takeaway of ‘Damru and Trishul’ as a symbol of Lord Shiva.

Photo albums are very important in preserving our memories and telling our stories in the future. Photo albums let us preserve important memories, not just for ourselves but also for our children, grandchildren, and even our great-grandchildren! They're historical and deeply personal references to us and our families' past and future; that's why we should start creating photo albums today. Under the theme 'Travel' in EVS, Grade 3 students have created their photo album in which they included pictures of their dream destinations. This album will be their treasure that they can cherish forever. They may also keep adding their memories to it in the future.

STUDENTS OBSERVE WORLD CANCER DAY WITH AN AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Grade 4, 5, and 6 students created Detox salad with fruits and vegetables. The students were sensitized about the food we eat, or our diet helps in the prevention of diseases. It was an awareness campaign about the foods that help to prevent cancer. Berries, apples, garlic, tomatoes, and carrots are valuable as they are a powerhouse of antioxidants. The students enjoyed making the colorful salad and relished the healthy bowl of salad.

PRESIDIANS CELEBRATE THE SPIRIT OF UNITY & BROTHERHOOD

26th January 1950 was the day when the Indian republic and its constitution came into force. Students of Grade Nursery to 6th took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity and brotherhood. Students were dressed up in tricolour dress and enjoyed beautiful tricolour craft activity. The teacher enlightened the significance of this day by showing them some patriotic musical videos/songs. Students saluted the National Flag and pledged themselves to uphold the honour and integrity, diversity, and uniqueness that is "India." Young patriots took a pledge that they would not let the efforts of our brave freedom fighters go in vain. We would strive to make our country the best in the world. Students showed their love and gratitude towards their country with the help of slogans like "Jai Hind," "I Love my India," created posters, made tricolour sandwiches, and also sang the National Anthem.

PRESIDIANS DEVELOP EARLY READING SKILLS WITH PICTURE READING

“Reading in its fullest sense involves weaving together word recognition and comprehension in a fluent manner!”
To spark curiosity about reading in our young Presidians, a Picture Reading Competition was recently organized wherein students participated in full zeal and energy. The contest helped little Presidians explore early reading skills for fun and engaged them in a beautiful learning experience. The competition started with the teacher showing a picture to the kids, and they were asked to identify what they see in the picture and to think about the information on the chart and what they want to say about it to generate a sentence. Students identified what is going on in each picture and found meaning in text and pictures. They were assessed on their dynamic vocabulary, comprehension, and expression. The students were very excited and enjoyed the activity thoroughly. It was wonderful to see how our young readers decoded visual images and made meaning from print.

PRESIDIANS SHOWCASE THEIR TALENT AT INTER CLASS DANCE COMPETITION

'Dancing is the most beautiful art because it is not mere translation or abstraction from life; it is life itself.' Western and folk dancing are wonderful ways to introduce young students to the world's rich diversity and enable them to enjoy the art of dance, music, and rhythm. It also provides opportunities for socialization and creates room for self-expression. With this thought and to showcase the hidden talents of Presidians, we organized an Inter class dance competition for the students of grades 2 and 3. The attractive costumes, fluid dance movements, and fascinating props made it tough for the judges to decide the winner. Students' efforts and initiative were appreciated by one and all.
