YOUNG ASTRONOMERS ALL SET TO MEASURE EARTH’S CIRCUMFERENCE

Astronomy is a Science that has always keenly interested our young Presidians. To satiate their thirst for learning more about this Science, a double module astronomy workshop was recently organized at Presidium, Indirapuram. Module one included understanding the difference between reference and cardinal directions, analyzing importance of different methods to locate cardinal directions, and using gnomon and sun to mark cardinal directions. The Presidians recreated the Eratosthenes experiment and calculated the circumference of the Earth. They also tried to understand how scientific pursuits can be done by simple experimentation and learnt how to conduct Project Paridhi for Science popularization.
Module two included establishing the importance of time as a physical measurement, understanding difference between local time and IST, finding local time using a sundial, learning to deduce IST using local time, and basics of equation of time. Interested to understand the working of a sundial and its importance in history and mathematics, the young astronomers created a sundial using simple materials to find time. It was an amazing session where both the modules explained a lot of concepts in a bright sunny day.

PRESIDIANS BUILD CONFIDENCE THROUGH 'SHOW & TELL' COMPETITION

A key part of the preschool curriculum, 'show and tell' is an important part of a child's learning development, as it helps them to organize information and build their confidence. It's also a great way to encourage child's interest in a particular topic and a chance for children to think outside the box a little. With the aim of providing an opportunity for our children of grade nursery to develop effective communication skills and to build their confidence, a ‘show and tell’ competition was recently organized at Presidium, Indirapuram. They learned and experienced public speaking - a skill a child will use throughout his life. In the competition the preprimary kids took center stage and spoke on different topics like my car, my favourite book, solar system, healthy food and national flag. They described the objects with a lot of confidence, facial expressions and voice modulation. Overall, the show was a spectacular learning experience for the kids!

INTRA-CLASS BEST OUT OF WASTE CONTEST:INSPIRING CREATIVE THINKING

To promote artistic excellence and encourage creativity in our grade 2 students an ‘intra-class best out of waste competition’ was recently organized at Presidium, Indirapuram. Each of the objects prepared by the students was a treat to the eyes. During this event, the students shared their creative skills and ideas with their classmates and had a great time with lots of fun. Enabling the students to understand the importance of conserving the environment and learn more about sustainability, the fun-filled contest was an immersive learning experience for all.

PRESIDIANS REJOICE THE AUSPICIOUS FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS WITH FRIENDS

One of the most popular festivals in India, Diwali signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance and hope over despair. To rejoice this festival that brings joy and wealth with it, the tiny grade 1 children of Presidium Indirapuram set the stage with spectacular presentation at a special assembly. Witnessing the little children dressed in beautiful and colourful clothes was really an amazing experience for all. After doing aarti with devotion, these young Presidians enlightened their fellow friends about the importance of this festival and also, why and how this festival is celebrated? These children beautifully depicted the story of Lord Rama’s return to Ajodhya after 14 years of exile, which was indeed a proud moment for the teachers to see their little students leading the stage with such confidence. The splendid dance performance on the song 'happy Diwali' was the highlight of the show. Last, but not the least, the young children concluded the assembly with a very beautiful message for their friends - 'no crackers, let’s celebrate a pollution-free Diwali'.

Mahatma Gandhi, popularly known as the 'Father of the Nation', played a stellar role in India's freedom struggle. To celebrate his birth anniversary with loads of love and gratitude, the students of Presidium Indirapuram came together for a special assembly on Gandhi Jayanti. To start with, the little Presidians enlightened the audience about Gandhi Ji’s great work and his contribution in freedom struggle. The little leaders of tomorrow danced on the song 'bande mein tha dum' to give a beautiful enlightenment about the greatest leader of yesterday. It was truly a patriotic experience for everyone present!

Dance is the conversation of the body with the soul and it is thus, rightly considered as one of the most captivating art forms, which beautifully showcase self-expression. Considering that dance is a great source for boosting creativity, imagination, confidence and focus in young hearts, an 'inter-class dance competition' was organised recently for the pre-primary students of Presidium Indirapuram. Focusing on all-round development and dancing skills of the students, the western dance-themed competition called in our vivacious dancers to set the floor on fire with their energetic performances and enthralled everyone.

Reading is one of the most important skill a child needs to learn to succeed in life as by developing good reading habits, a child not only benefits academically, but in everyday life as well. In order to promote a good reading habit and motivate students to perform and excel, Presidium Indirapuram recently organized an 'intra-class reading competition' for students of grade 2. The Presidians participated enthusiastically in the competition and were continuously practicing reading strategies. Displaying great effort and passion, the little students were motivated and appreciated by the teachers with certificates. The fun-filled contest helped in motivating the 'leaders of tomorrow' to learn and read better.

The International day of Peace is dedicated to world peace, and specially the absence of war and violence. Abiding by the 2017 UN Peace Day theme - 'together for peace - respect, safety and dignity for all', Presidium Indirapuram recently conducted a special assembly. Our little Presidians celebrated Peace day with great zeal and enthusiasm by participating in a 'peace march' to promote respect, safety and dignity for everyone. Dressed as 'messengers of peace', 'the leaders of tomorrow' pledged to uplift their world through love, peace and togetherness.

MASK MAKING: PROMOTING ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE IN LITTLE PRESIDIANS

To mix learning with fun, an incredible and fun-filled 'mask making' activity for students of grade nursery was organized at Presidium, Indirapuram. The little Presidians designed stunning masks by drawing imaginative designs and colouring them as per their choice. They also pasted colourful paper stripes, creating attractive patterns with different colours of their choice. Using their imagination to create beautiful artwork, the Presidians showcased their fine motor skills. The activity inspired the children to think and work creatively and promoted artistic excellence.
